along the same vein, i know a bunch of people are using dreamwidth as a mirror journal, automatically cross-posting between the two. how exactly does one do such a thing? any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is dreamwidth, exactly? I've heard it mentioned a few times. Is it just an alternative to LJ?

it's just another mirror journal. i don't know if you were really effected by the livejournal strike-out last year or not, but that's pretty much when half my friends list started looking for an alternative. this is one that was specifically created to allow all the things lj got up in arms about. it's got different filtering systems, etc. in general, it's pretty much the same thing.
